SOUTH TAMPA - A mother was arrested about 1:30 p.m. Saturday after leaving her two children locked in her car for 29 minutes while she went shopping, Tampa police said.
Lucy Osuji, 29, of Tampa, left her children strapped into child restraint seats in her 2008 Jeep Wrangler with the engine off and the windows up while she was inside Burlington Coat Factory, 3950 S. Dale Mabry Hwy., in Britton Plaza, Tampa police said. The temperature rose to more than 100 degrees inside the vehicle and the children were very sweaty and crying, according to the police report.
Osuji, 29, was arrested on two counts of child abuse, police said. She posted $4,000 bond and was released from Orient Road Jail just before 6 p.m.
