HOLIDAY - The Sweetbay Supermarket pharmacy at 3406 U.S. 19 is the latest target in a rash of holdups in which robbers are demanding high-strength, opiate painkillers, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office reported late Friday.
The latest suspect is described as a white man about 30 years old, 200-plus pounds and 5-foot-11.
He wore a dark-colored dress shirt with a brown tie, light-colored pants, sunglasses and a Tampa Bay Rays baseball cap, sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll said.
The robber approached a pharmacy clerk about 11:30 a.m. Friday and demanded Oxycontin-brand pills while displaying a gun wrapped in a newspaper, Doll said.
After receiving an unspecified amount of the drug, the suspect fled the store without hurting anyone, the spokesman said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at 1-800-854-2862 and ask for Detective Greg Hinnant.
