TRINITY - It's three more years for president Mark T. O'Farrell.
Trinity College's Board of Trustees unanimously endorsed him to continue at the helm after his first three years saw the school prepare for its first major campus expansion in 20 years and expand its athletic program.
The building project will create additional space for student housing, classrooms, athletics, offices and meeting space.
Three new sports - women's basketball, women's golf and men's golf - will be played in the 2008-09 academic year.
Trinity also created a President's Council after O'Farrell was elected the college's eighth president in May 2005.
The group of men and women from public, private and nonprofit organizations offer advice on college operations, promotions and advancement.
O'Farrell was a pastor in Georgia and Florida before becoming assistant to the district superintendent/church planting director for the Southeastern District of the Christian & Missionary Alliance denomination. He later was elected, then re-elected as district superintendent, serving for 12 years.
O'Farrell has been a trustee on several higher education boards, for retirement communities and for auxiliary ministries. He is also a board member for the C&MA and received the Antioch Award in 2005 for his efforts in starting churches.
O'Farrell holds a bachelor of arts degree from Columbia International University in South Carolina and a doctor of divinity from Toccoa Falls College in Georgia.
