ATLANTA - Bobby Cox, saying he's still having fun with the game, has agreed to a one-year contract extension to manage the Atlanta Braves through 2009.
Cox, 67, is the winningest manager in franchise history. He is in his 27th season as a manager, including 23 years with the Braves, and he said he's not ready to leave the game.
"I'm certainly going to end my career here," Cox said. "There's no doubt about that now. I'm happy."
Cox led the Braves to 14 straight division championships from 1991-2005, including the 1995 World Series championship.
In other Braves news, right-hander John Smoltz (shoulder) will begin a minor-league rehabilitation assignment with Double-A Mississippi today.

BREWERS: Closer Eric Gagne (shoulder) was placed on the disabled list retroactive to May 21.
MARINERS: Felix Hernandez (leg) was scratched from his start today against the Yankees and was rescheduled for Monday's game against Boston.

"Willie Randolph is our manager. He has my support, he has our ownership support," Minaya said.
NATIONALS: Left-hander Matt Chico was optioned to Triple-A Columbus.
WHITE SOX: Second baseman Juan Uribe (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day disabled list.
