Manatee County deputies are looking for the driver of a blue truck who they said assaulted two senior citizens in Palmetto on Saturday.

The incident started at 4:20 p.m., when Allen Yarn saw his neighbor arguing with a black male in his 30s. The man had parked his truck in front of a woman's home in the 1600 block of 1st Avenue East, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Seeing the commotion, Yarn, 63, went to help the woman. The man became irate and punched Yarn repeatedly in the face, according to deputies.

Witnessing the attack, James Hayes, 71, came to the assistance of Yarn. The man then walked across the street where he picked up a beer bottle and threw it at Hayes, striking him in the forehead.

The man then fled in a truck. Witnesses could not identify the tag.

Hayes suffered a 1- to 2-inch laceration on his forehead but refused to be transported to hospital, according to deputies. An EMS crew bandaged his wound.

The condition of Yarn is not known at this time.

The suspect is still at large.

Anyone with information about the case can call the Manatee County Sheriff's Office at (941) 747-3011.
