TAMPA - The Tampa Fire Marshal's Office is investigating what it's calling a suspicious fire that destroyed a vacant, single-story house in Sulphur Springs on Monday.
According to Tampa Fire Rescue reports, fire crews arrived at the house at 8212 N. Semmes St. at 4:31 a.m. They had the fire under control within minutes.
The house was locked and under renovation. Losses were estimated to be at least $100,000. No injuries were reported.
Built in 1992, the 1,008-square-foot house was purchased in 2005 for $127,500 by Travis Thayer of 501 W. Hanna Ave.
Evidence from the scene has been sent to the state crime lab for evaluation.
