SARASOTA - Allan Eva got tired of his 36-year-old son begging for money, and he finally "snapped" — blasting a shotgun as the son tried to walk away, deputies say.
Jason Eva begged his father for money on Sunday night, pestering the 67-year-old for much of the evening, authorities said. Allan refused and his son got angry. He picked up a TV remote, investigators say, and slammed it on the floor. His father shoved him in the chest, and Jason Eva tried to walk out. But authorities say Allan grabbed a 12-gauge shotgun and shot Jason through a sliding glass door.
Jason staggered to a neighbor's house and was eventually flown to Tampa General Hospital. He is expected to survive. Allan Eva remained in the Sarasota County Jail on Tuesday, where he was charged with attempted murder.
