A 40-acre brush fire near Hillsborough Avenue will be smoldering for the next two to three days, potentially posing health risks for anyone with respiratory problems in the area, fire officials say.
The fire is burning in a swamp area between Countryway Boulevard and Montague Street but isn't threatening any businesses or homes, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue spokesman Ray Yeakley said.
"The biggest threat would be spot flare-ups and possibly reduced visibility on Hillsborough," Yeakley said.
He also said young children, older adults and anyone with respiratory problems should avoid the area until the smoke is gone.
"If they live near there, they should stay indoors; that would be adequate enough," Yeakley said.
