SAUGET, Ill. - Blake Lockwood's two-run single in the ninth inning snapped a tie Tuesday night, giving Ouachita Baptist a 12-10 victory against the University of Tampa at the NCAA Division II World Series. The Spartans (42-11-1), the two-time defending national champions, were eliminated from the tournament after squandering leads of 7-0 and 10-7.
Ouachita Baptist (48-15) will play the loser of Tuesday's late game between Mount Olive and Ashland.
Paced by Junior Mejia's two-run single in the second inning and a two-run homer by Leo Alvarez in the third, the Spartans took a 7-0 lead after three innings.
Ouachita Baptist tied the game after solo runs in the fourth and sixth innings and a five-run fifth.
UT jumped ahead 10-7 with two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh, but Justin Pernell's three-run homer in the eighth inning tied the game again.
