About half a kilo of cocaine was taken off the streets by Hillsborough County deputies in two separate arrests Tuesday, according to arrest reports.
The first arrest took place shortly after 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Home Depot at Falkenburg Road and State Road 60 in Brandon, according to a deputy's report.
A detective arranged to purchase cocaine from Jason Alboro Garcia, 26, of 805 N. Kingsway Road in Seffner, the report says.
Garcia met the detective in the Home Depot parking lot and delivered about 242 grams of cocaine, the report says. Garcia was arrested, and a search of his vehicle found about 207 more grams of cocaine and a scale, the report says.
Garcia, who lists his profession as a supervisor for All American Landscaping on jail records, was charged with trafficking cocaine, a felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. He is being held at the Orient Road Jail with no bail set.
Tuesday's second big cocaine bust unfolded during a traffic stop near 5502 Fowler Ave. in Tampa.
David Acevedo, 23, of 10119 N. Hyacinth Ave., Apt A, was changing lanes within 100 feet of an intersection and was pulled over by a deputy into a CVS parking lot, an arrest report says.
The deputy then called for a K-9 unit, and the dog signified that it might have found drugs. Acevedo's vehicle was searched, and deputies found about 120 grams of cocaine and 23 grams of Ecstasy, the report says.
Acevedo, who lists himself as a University of South Florida student on jail records, was charged with cocaine trafficking. He is being held at the Orient Road Jail with no bail set, according to jail records.
