The rating, based on Medicare data compiled by the Dartmouth Atlas of Health Care, judges hospitals on a 100-percent point scale – the higher the percentage, the more aggressive the treatment. Aggressive care translates to longer hospital stays and more doctor visits. Conservative care means you're likely to have shorter hospital stays and fewer doctor visits.
