The rating, based on Medicare data compiled by the Dartmouth Atlas of Health Care, judges hospitals on a 100-percent point scale – the higher the percentage, the more aggressive the treatment. Aggressive care translates to longer hospital stays and more doctor visits. Conservative care means you're likely to have shorter hospital stays and fewer doctor visits. Brandon Regional Hospital – 83 percent 21.9 days, 95 visits
Tampa General Hospital – 83 percent 27.5 days, 83.2 visits
South Bay Hospital, Sun City Center – 76 percent 23.2 days, 83.9 visits
University Community Hospital, Carrollwood – 69 percent 21.8 days, 75.9 visits
Town and County Hospital, Tampa – 67 percent 21.6 days, 76.6 visits
H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute, Tampa – 60 percent 25.5 days, 68.7 visits
South Florida Baptist Hospital, Plant City – 47 percent 19.3 days, 69.4 visits
Florida Hospital, Zephyrhills – 35 percent 18.5 days, 65.6 visits
Pasco Regional Medical Center, Dade City – 25 percent 17.7 days, 59.9 visits
