ST. PETERSBURG - Pinellas sheriff's deputies said that when they went to the home of Adamantios Tsakos on Thursday evening, they found two victims.
One was the 54-year-old man's 17-year-old daughter, who authorities said was beaten by Tsakos with a 2-foot-4-inch-long stick.
The other was the family dog, which was tied to the carport without any water, deputies said.
Tsakos was arrested on charges of aggravated child abuse and confinement of an animal without food and water. Bail at the Pinellas County Jail was set at $20,150.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies were called to the Tsakos home to handle a domestic complaint. There, they found that Tsakos' daughter had yelled at him, and, to regain control of the situation, Tsakos struck her roughly seven times with a furring strip, leaving marks on her arm and leg, according to arrest affidavits.
Deputies also noticed the family dog tied to a carport without any water, Sgt. Jim Bordner said. Dust had collected on the inside of the canine's water bowl, and the animal was emaciated and covered with fleas, affidavits said.
