Although honoring veterans and our military is a thoughtful and appropriate thing to do anytime, Memorial Day is the one time of year set aside to honor those who have paid the ultimate price for service: Memorial Day is set aside to honor those who gave their life while serving in the United States military.
There are other holidays set aside for military and veteran appreciation - Veteran's Day and Armed Forces Day - and it seems that the true purpose of Memorial Day being overlooked in many of the media articles published last weekend.
