The wife of entertainer Bill Murray has filed for divorce after nearly 11 years of marriage, alleging that he abused her and is addicted to marijuana and alcohol.
Jennifer Butler Murray filed divorce papers May 12 in Charleston County, S.C.. She owns a home on Sullivans Island, where she lives with the couple's four children.
The complaint was first reported by The Post and Courier of Charleston. It also alleges frequent abandonment by the former "Saturday Night Live" star.
Bill Murray's attorney, John McDougall, wouldn't comment on the allegations, but said the entertainer "is deeply saddened by the breakup of his marriage."
"He and his wife made loving parents, and they are committed to the best interests of their children," McDougall said.

The 38-year-old supermodel was charged when she reported to Heathrow police station for a bail appearance in the April 3 fracas, lawyer Simon Nicholls said.
The Crown Prosecution Service said Campbell faced six charges - three counts of assaulting a constable, two counts of using threatening, abusive words or behavior to the cabin crew and one count of disorderly conduct. Police said the assault charges related to two officers.
Campbell was ordered to appear at a west London magistrates' court June 20.
Witnesses said Campbell was aboard a British Airways plane due to take off for Los Angeles when she became involved in a dispute over her luggage.
David's Cooking On The Charts
David Cook's "American Idol" win is already paying dividends on the music charts.
The 25-year-old singer raked in 942,000 digital downloads in just a week, according to figures released Thursday by Nielsen SoundScan. The numbers are from the week ending Sunday.
The runner-up on the Fox show, David Archuleta, amassed 323,000 downloads in the same period. The next closest "Idol" contender was Jason Castro, with 64,000 downloads.
Cook, from Blue Springs, Mo., last week defeated the 17-year-old Archuleta of Murray, Utah, by a margin of 12 million votes of the record 97.5 million cast by viewers.
He wasn't the only one whose downloads jumped markedly. George Michael, Carrie Underwood and ZZ Top all saw huge increases in downloads after guest appearances on the show.
