THE DIFFERENCE: Gaither was trailing Hillsborough 24-14 and was threatening to close the gap when Cowboys quarterback Kamren Hawkins was intercepted by Hillsborough safety John Shuler. Nine plays later, the Terriers scored on a 13-yard touchdown run by Lindsey Lamar to go up 31-14.
GAME NOTES: Hillsborough quarterback Tarean Austin and wide receiver Charles Lovett connected for five completions for 76 yards and three touchdowns. ... Lamar rushed 23 times for 179 yards and a touchdown. ... Gaither running back Jarvis Giles rushed 19 times for 93 yards and a touchdown. ... Cowboys linebacker Yemi Oyegunle sacked Austin once and intercepted the Terriers quarterback.
STAT OF THE GAME: There were six sacks in the game, two for Gaither and four for Hillsborough. Hillsborough defensive tackle Victor Bynum sacked Hawkins twice.
