THE DIFFERENCE: Despite shooting themselves in the foot numerous times with turnovers, East Bay (3-5) still had a chance late to win the game. But with 2:24 left in the game, the Indians fumbled the ball on Newsome's 13-yard line, their fourth giveaway on the night, killing their potential winning drive and securing the Wolves' first playoff berth in school history.
GAME NOTES: The Wolves pounded the ball all night behind their strong running attack led by the Powers brothers - sophomore Conner Powers had an impressive 24 carries for 208 yards and two touchdowns, while younger brother Keller had 13 carries for 80 yards. ... Newsome sophomore Vince Pennington chipped in with eight carries for 43 yards. ... Indians running back Chaz Burrows started off slow (three carries for 15 yards in the first half), but finished strong, toting the ball 17 times for 153 yards, including a 66-yard run for a touchdown. ... East Bay running back Andre Simpson carried the ball eight times for 49 yards and one score from 13 yards out.
STAT OF THE GAME: The Indians were snakebit at times, looking like they would take the lead, only to fumble the ball away - three of the four turnovers were inside the 25, including two inside the 10.
QUOTE OF THE GAME: "Turnovers went our way tonight. It could have gone the other way. It could have went south on us. But we got the turnovers when we needed it, and the ball was in our favor tonight." - Wolves coach Ken Hiscock
