ST. PETERSBURG - An unidentified man is in critical condition after apparently taking a spill while riding his bicycle on the sidewalk along 22nd Avenue North, authorities report.
The unconscious man was found shortly before 8 a.m. today, according to a St. Petersburg Police Department report. It appears the bicycle left the pavement and went into a drainage culvert, causing the man to hit his head, the report states.
There was no trauma to the man's body and he did not appear to be the victim of a violent crime, police said.
He was also suffering from hypothermia and was taken to Bayfront Medical Center in critical condition, the report states.
