WIGGING OUT FOR THE RAYS

It was the last chance - this season, anyway - to sport a blue Mohawk and have people instantly understand.
Returning to town as the American League champions, the Tampa Bay Rays signed autographs, sang "Take Me Out To the Ball Game" and waved to fans at a celebration Friday in Straub Park along St. Petersburg's waterfront.
The fan rally honored the Rays for winning the league championship and going to the World Series - which they lost this week against the Philadelphia Phillies. At the rally, a video showed highlights of the season, manager Joe Maddon was introduced to the crowd and local mayors appeared.
Tampa will also have a free rally for the Rays. It's from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Lykes Gaslight Square Park at the corner of Franklin Street and Kennedy Boulevard.
Icons of the Rays season - the cowbells, the blue Rayhawks - will then go into retirement until next year.
