Ten years ago, the Bucs played one of the best games in franchise history, beating the Minnesota Vikings 27-24 at Raymond James Stadium.

The Bucs had a franchise-record 246 yards rushing. Mike Alstott gained 128 yards on 19 carries, while Warrick Dunn rushed 18 times for 115 yards.

It was the only regular-season defeat for the Vikings (15-1), who eventually lost at home to Atlanta in the NFC Championship Game.

BIRTHDAY WISHES

Happy birthday to former University of South Florida basketball player Gary Alexander, one of the program's best all-time rebounders and a member of the Bulls' last NCAA Tournament team (1992).

Alexander, who had a cup of coffee in the NBA, is now a police officer at Georgia State University in Atlanta. Today, he turns 39.

Giles, who started 112 games for the Bucs from 1978-86, was inducted into the Alcorn State Hall of Fame last month.

Giles had four touchdown receptions in 1985 against the Miami Dolphins - and it's still a Tampa Bay individual-game record.
