THE DIFFERENCE: In the second quarter, after Riverview ran off 13 straight plays, the Sharks attempted a 35-yard field goal to tie the game. The kick was partially blocked, and as players started walking off the field with the ball bouncing behind the defenders, Wharton's Terrence Hicks ran back, picked up the ball on the 14-yard line and ran untouched 86 yards for a touchdown. The score gave the Wildcats a 10-0 lead, and Riverview did not recover.
GAME NOTES: Wharton quarterback Andrew Clifford threw for two touchdowns and ran for a third, completing seven passes in 15 attempts for 185 yards. ... Brent Holloway was on the receiving side of four of Clifford's passes, for 103 yards, while running back Shane McEwen rushed for 102 yards on 10 carries. ... Terrance Carter rushed for 93 yards for Riverview. ... Riverview QB Alex O'Regan threw 21 times, completing eight for 116 yards.
STAT OF THE GAME: Wharton ran 33 plays, less than half of Riverview's 69 plays, but was outrushed by the Sharks, 236 yards to 111.
