Published: November 2, 2008

A man whose blood alcohol level was more than three times the limit for driving was killed when he was struck just after midnight Saturday in Manatee County by a Jeep on U.S. 41, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Aaron Deitemeyer, 26, of Bradenton died Saturday evening at Bayfront Medical Center. He was hit by a Jeep Cherokee driven by Thomas Cosrello, 47, of Bradenton about 12:10 a.m. Saturday.
Cosrello was driving south on U.S. 41 near the intersection of West 57th Avenue when the vehicle in front of him slowed dramatically, the highway patrol said.

Cosrello changed lanes. When he did, Deitemeyer jumped from the center lane into the right lane and directly into his path, the accident report said.

The highway patrol said a blood sample taken from Deitemeyer at Bayfront showed his blood alcohol level was .271. State law presumes a person is too intoxicated to drive with a blood alcohol level of .08.

No charges were filed.
