Pinellas Bicycle Accident Severely Injures Woman

SAFETY HARBOR - A Safety Harbor woman was hospitalized after crashing a bicycle today.

Police said Cynthia Muniz, 43, was riding a men's mountain bike on 7th Street South when the left handlebar caught a mailbox, causing her to fall onto a driveway.

Deputies said Muniz wasn't wearing a helmet and suffered life-threatening injuries. She was flown by helicopter to Bayfront Medical Center.

An investigation is continuing. Police said alcohol might have contributed to the crash.
