The Tallahassee Police Department has released transcripts from an internal affairs investigation into the death of a Pinellas County woman working as an undercover informant.
The body of 23-year-old Rachel Hoffman's body was found in May in rural Taylor County, southeast of Tallahassee. Up until her disappearance, she had been working with the police department's narcotics squad.
A circuit judge ordered that redacted versions of the transcripts be released last week in response to a public records request.
Hoffman, a Florida State University graduate, agreed to pose as a buyer in undercover operations after being arrested on several felony charges. After her death, police said Hoffman had not followed proper safety protocols, but her family blamed police for putting her in harm's way.
