Party Host In Manatee Arrested After Guest Loses His Ear

Darrell Barchette came to Manatee Memorial Hospital on Saturday night without his left ear.
Barchette, 51, of Ruskin, was drunk and uncooperative with investigators, who determined his ear had been removed suspiciously, Manatee County deputies say. But an intoxicated witness said Barchette and another man, Kevin Culbertson, 45, of Bradenton, had fought at a party at Culbertson's home.
"This caused Barchette's ear to come off somehow," a Manatee County Sheriff's Office news release states.
Culbertson was arrested and charged with aggravated battery, deputies say.
