Crist To Appear At GOP Party In St. Pete

5:56 p.m.: Gov. Charlie Crist is expected to make an appearance at the Republican Party of Florida's victory celebration at the Hilton Carillon Park in St. Petersburg.
The gathering is one of two official GOP events in the state.
Big screen televisions are broadcasting Fox News Channel, but the only results so far are early exit polls, which indicate Barack Obama is leading John McCain in new voters, while McCain holds the edge with white male voters.
Hilton employees are setting up the bar and food tables for the big event. Local Republican candidates, officials and supporters are expected to attend. The party gets underway about 8 p.m.
About 800 people are expected at the event.
