8:45 a.m.: The line is moving right along, and voters at the Jackson Heights NFL Youth Education Town Center in College Hill are streaming in and out. There are fewer voters this morning than Charlotte Cornelius thought.
She explains that she had tried to vote early at the College Hill Library, but the long lines prohibited her from even trying. On Election Day, she was in and out in less than an hour, she says.
"It was good," she says walking toward East Lake Avenue. "Smooth."
The 58-year-old Jackson Heights woman, who lives just three minutes from the polling place, said she lost interest in politics as a teenager when President Kennedy was assassinated in 1963.
But this election season has rekindled her interest.
The experience was definitely rewarding, she says.
"Everybody inside was very helpful," she says. "It was very simple."
