1:35 p.m.: There's not a voter in sight at the Ross Norton Recreation & Aquatic Complex-Extreme Sports Park in Clearwater, the designated location for voters from precincts 500 and 501.
"There's been a lull like this since 12," said precinct clerk Leanne Walker. "We lost our lunch crowd."
This morning was different, Walker said, with voters wrapped around the building.
There was one technical glitch during the morning hours, she said.
An optical scanning machine broke down for two hours due to a paper jam, Walker said. That meant 18 voters had to wait until Walker received permission to open an emergency bin, where their ballots would be stored until the machine was fixed and their votes could be tallied.
Walker said she never did get permission, so she decided to open the bin herself so voters who cast their ballots could go on their merry way.
The machine was fixed, and the ballots run through.
