Prosecutors say an Egyptian college student who studied at the University of South Florida called
America a "vile nation."
That's according to a sentencing memorandum filed Tuesday. Prosecutors hope U.S. District Judge Steven Merryday will consider the document when he sentences 27-year-old Ahmed Mohamed later this week.
Mohamed has already pleaded guilty to providing material support to terrorists. He faces a maximum of 15 years in prison.
Mohamed and Youssef Megahed were arrested in 2007 in South Carolina, where deputies said they found explosives in the car driven by Mohamed. Mohamed contends they weren't explosives, just
ingredients for homemade fireworks.
