6:30 p.m.: With a half hour to go before polls close, the precincts in south St. Pete still seem to be drawing voters, but sparsely. The lack of lines surprised Cynthia A. Riddell, a lawyer with an office in Sarasota who's registered in south St. Pete.
She crossed the Skyway expecting to get to the Pinellas Community Church at 5 p.m. and still have time to vote before polls closed at 7 p.m. She was in and out in five minutes. "It was an easy, pleasurable experience," she said.
School board candidate Sean O'Flannery, a teacher at Lakewood High School, was outside of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church shortly after 6 p.m. Voters were coming in ones and twos. He said it's been that way every place he's been today, except for early this morning.
He said he knew it would be an exciting race because his students were getting into it. At first they were voting just for candidates, but as Election Day got closer, they became interested in the issues themselves.
