PINELLAS PARK - A Pinellas sheriff's detention deputy was arrested Tuesday night on a charge of drunken driving, the sheriff's office said.
Detention Deputy Aaron O. Simpson, 28, was arrested after a traffic stop near the intersection of Belcher and Bryan Dairy roads at 8:43 p.m., sheriff's spokesman Jim Bordner said.
He was weaving in and out of his lane, Bordner said, and nearly forced an off-duty sheriff's detective off the road.
Because Simpson already was on pre-trial release caused by a previous drunken driving charge, he was put on administrative leave with pay. Simpson has been with the agency for six years.
