TAMPA - A Valrico man, who authorities say took sexually explicit pictures of a teenage girl with plans to sell them on the Internet, is facing federal charges.
Robert Dale Paige, 36, of 261 Hermitage Hill Way, is charged in federal court with inducing a child to engage in sexually explicit conduct with the purpose of creating visual depictions.
Authorities said Paige instructed the girl to pose in sexual positions, sometimes completely nude, three times between August and Sept. 8.
The girl, who Paige knows, ran up a $2,000 cell phone bill, and Paige planned to create a Web site with the pictures, according to a federal complaint Authorities said he planned to make money from the Web site to pay the phone bill.
Detectives were notified of the situation by a crisis center, where the girl had shown up as a runaway.
Paige told investigators that the Web site was the girl's idea and that she begged him to take the pictures. He said he knew it was wrong to do it, according to the complaint.
