Former Preschool Teacher Gets 20 Years For Molestation

NEW PORT RICHEY - A former teacher at a Hudson preschool today admitted to molesting two former students.

Brian M. Lane, 30, of 7751 Deerfoot Lane pleaded guilty to attempted capital sexual battery and two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation. As part of a deal with prosecutors, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Lane molested two boys, 4 and 10, who attended Sugar Plum First Class Preschool in 2007-08. The Tribune does not identify victims of sexual crimes.

In June, prosecutors agreed to the plea, in part, because the victims' families wanted the case wrapped up as quickly as possible. In a statement to the court, Lane admitted he had done something wrong and needs help, but he said he isn't "a monster."

"People don't know me," he said. "They accuse me of different things, and it's not right."
