ST. PETERSBURG - A woman was arrested Wednesday night after she robbed a bank by claiming she had a bomb strapped to her body, St. Petersburg police said.
Jessica Strole, 29, walked into the Synovus Bank, 333 Third Ave. N., at 2:07 p.m. Wednesday, St. Petersburg police spokesman Bill Proffitt said. She said she had a bomb strapped to her body and it would detonate if she didn't receive $200, Proffitt said.
She left after a teller gave her an undisclosed amount of money, Proffitt said.
The surveillance video was very good, and officers who patrol the downtown area recognized the robber as Strole, Proffitt said. She was spotted at 7:40 p.m. at Seventh Avenue North and 14th Street and taken into custody, Proffitt said.
