TAMPA - Heading into the Tampa Convention Center, car enthusiasts are treated to a glare of Jaguars. The first car at the Tampa Bay International Auto Show, which starts at noon today, is a hunter-green Jag XK coupe that costs more than $80,000.
Nine Jaguars follow. Around the corner are a handful of Bentleys and Ferraris. Early this morning, three Lamborghinis were still tucked into custom covers.
Hundreds of 2009 cars, SUVs and trucks are on two floors of the convention center. They hail from makers such as Lexus and BMW, Aston Martin and Porsche.
New Chevrolets, Fords, Toyotas, Mazdas and more are upstairs.
The show, sponsored by Motor Trend magazine, lasts through Sunday.
Admission is $9 for adults and $4 for those older than 62, military, students and children younger than 12. Children younger than 6 get free admission. On Sunday, anyone younger than 12 is admitted free.
