I am a nurse. Every day I work I save lives and give comfort to patients. I am an Eagle Scout. My project was to raise funds to help dyslexic children. I was a Marine. I served this country to the best of my ability.
Now the people of this state and this nation have decided that despite my contributions, I am only deserving of some rights.
I am a gay man. My partner and I have been together for 10 years - more than most heterosexual marriages.
We deserve the same rights every American has, not just some. For those who helped to pass Amendment Two, you've just helped to enshrine discrimination by telling every gay and lesbian who serves this country, "you are not as equal as me."
