TAMPA - Treasure hunting company Odyssey Marine Inc. said in court filings that it has found two more sunken ships near the entrance to the English Channel.
Both are "beyond the territorial waters or contiguous zone of any sovereign nation," the Tampa-based company said Wednesday in filings with the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
The company said it has taken preliminary video and surveys of the sites.
The two vessels are steel-hulled, the company revealed. One lies in 400 meters of water about 375 miles from the entrance to the English Channel (52 degrees 5 minutes north latitude and 13 degrees 56 minutes west longitude). The other lies in 600 meters of water about 325 miles from the channel (52 degrees 16 minutes north and 13 degrees 7 minutes west).
Odyssey disclosed few other details on the two wrecks in the court documents. Company officials did not respond to messages for comment Thursday.
Odyssey's last major find was a wreck it called the Black Swan, a salvage that could be the richest ever and could net the company more than a half-billion dollars in gold and silver.
