TAMPA - Coming off last week's loss at Cincinnati in which the University of South Florida was plagued by several dropped balls, the Bulls put a special emphasis this week on players concentrating on the catch.
"We know we got to do better there," USF coach Jim Leavitt said. "We didn't do very good last game with that, and you're not going to win many games with guys dropping balls, not if you have an offense that throws."
The amount of dropped passes against the Bearcats was surprising to Leavitt.
"It's not normally like that with those guys," he said. "It was kind of an unusual thing."
ON THE ROAD: With USF off this weekend, Leavitt will spend his time studying film on upcoming opponent Rutgers while the assistant coaches will be hitting the recruiting trail.
"I'm just going to get some film in," Leavitt said. "But we're going to be recruiting different places. We already have some out."
ONE MORE TRY: Former Bulls LB Ben Moffitt has been signed to the New Orleans Saints practice squad. This will be Moffitt's third chance to stick in the NFL after having been cut by Houston and the Bucs.
