Middle School Student Charged With Weapons Possession

HOLIDAY - A student at Smith Middle School was arrested Friday and charged with possessing a weapon on school grounds, a felony.

The 14-year-old male brought a 1-inch blade to school on Thursday and told friends he planned cut another student's throat and "shank him," according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.

Another student wrestled the blade away from the youth and turned it over to the deputy assigned to the school, the sheriff's office said.

After his arrest, the teen was taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center and later turned over this his parents.
