THE DIFFERENCE: Brandon (2-7) prevailed in a mistake-filled game that began with the Eagles getting a safety when Plant City (3-6) had the snap on a punt sail through the end zone. Brandon relinquished the lead briefly, but took it back late in the first and never trailed again.

GAME NOTES: Late in the first, sophomore Josh Celerin connected with receiver Sean Watson from 14 yards out, giving Brandon a 10-7 lead after a two-point conversion. ... Mike Sevingy made the score 17-7 when he punched in a touchdown from 2 yards out early in the second. ... The Brandon lead grew to 24-7 when Darius Lee ran 71 yards for a TD early in the third. ... Greg McNealy and Ronnie Suggs ran in short fourth-quarter touchdowns to put the game out of reach. ... Plant City got on the board in the first after a fumble recovery deep in Brandon territory, and Clint Stearns found Cortez Hargrett for a 15-yard touchdown. ... Senior Hakeem Williams scored on a 1-yard run in the third for the Raiders that cut the Brandon lead to 24-14. ... In the fourth quarter, freshman quarterback Bennie Coney hit Hargrett for a 50-yard score.

STAT OF THE GAME: The teams combined for 33 penalties, with 19 coming in the first half.
