WESLEY CHAPEL ... 22 MITCHELL ... 14
THE DIFFERENCE: Wesley Chapel (4-5) quarterback Chris West scored a touchdown in the second overtime and followed that by scoring a two-point conversion on a trick play to give the Wildcats the win.
GAME NOTES: The end of regulation had more twists and turns than a merry-go-round. With 52 seconds left Mitchell had a first down on its own 41 when Wesley Chapel's Luke Fisher picked off a pass and returned it 20 yards. But Mitchell's Marcus Hicks got an interception and returned it 47 yards to the Wesley Chapel 12-yard line when time apparently ran out. But the officials had a long conference and decided to put 1.1 seconds on the clock, basically giving Mitchell a chance at a 30-yard field goal for the win. Wesley Chapel, which committed numerous mental mistakes leading to penalties, added two more to narrow the attempt to 20 yards. But Hunter Joyer blocked the field goal sending the game into overtime.
STAT OF THE GAME: Wesley Chapel dominated the time of possession in the first half allowing Mitchell only 10 offensive plays.
QUOTE OF THE GAME: "We shot ourselves in the foot so many times. I guess it was just meant for us to win" - Joyer
