FSU Women's Basketball Preview

Published: November 9, 2008

WHAT TO EXPECT

This might be the best team Sue Semrau has coached. The Seminoles return four starters and better than 80 percent of the scoring from last year's second-round NCAA Tournament team.

Florida State also welcomes a solid freshman class, highlighted by a high school All-American in Cierra Bravard. The Ohio native, along with Jacinta Monroe, gives FSU two legitimate big-time players down low, which should only help the Seminoles' perimeter game.

Mara Freshour is one of the nation's top shooters - she hit 43 percent of her 3-point attempts last season - and Tanae Davis-Cain can take over games with her scoring ability.

If Semrau can get this team to play defense like she thinks it's capable of, and avoid injuries, then Florida State has a legitimate chance to challenge for one of the top spots in the Atlantic Coast Conference and a high seed in the NCAA Tournament.
