TAMPA - A woman's wig was a bad accessory for an accused car burglar, whose choice of hair made a police officer look twice.
Tampa police Cpl. Larry Miles was patrolling the city parking garage at 1550 E. Sixth Ave. about 1:45 a.m. Sunday when he saw a man in a silver 2000 Crown Victoria place a blond wig on his head and start to drive away, a preliminary police report states.
Curious, Miles stopped the car and saw that the 1993 Chevrolet that had been parked next to the Crown Victoria had the door lock popped and ignition broken, police said. Miles also saw stereo equipment inside the Crown Victoria, which the Chevrolet's owner later identified as his, police said.
Police charged Angel O. Criado, 23, and Vahid Osmanovic, 24, both of Tampa, with felony burglary, among other offenses. Each is free today on $6,000 bail, jail records show.
A preliminary police report does not specify which man was wearing the wig. However, police said in the report that a full search of the Crown Victoria found several burglary tools, a toy BB gun and a wolf mask.
