Veteran's Day is a day to express our deeply felt thanks for all veterans. As an Army veteran who pulled a tour of duty in Fairbanks, Alaska, my flag will fly proudly.
Even peacetime veterans know that the military conditions the strength of the body, but also teaches values - basic ethical codes of conduct. The military is a powerful inducer of conformity, which can build a sense of fellowship and mutual respect.
The military structures one's identity for the better and fosters noble and principled traits. Strong, incredible leaders have come from the ranks of the military, like Dwight Eisenhower. Such true nationalist patriots are needed today.
With all the delinquency in our society nowadays, we need social control. With some kind of general military national service of able-bodied young men, fresh from high school, we'd have more societal stability because they'd learn through iron discipline high standards of character, honor and model virtues.
In any event, veterans deserve veneration as we honor them this day.
