TAMPA - Arson was the cause of a fire that caused $10,000 in damage Tuesday night to a shed used by the City of Tampa Parks Department, authorities say.
No one was hurt during the fire at 2501 Riverhills Drive, Tampa Fire Rescue officials said. Fire crews arrived at the scene shortly after 9 p.m. and saw flames coming from the single-story building.
The fire was under control in 10 minutes.
Tampa Fire Marshal investigators say the building, which housed maintenance equipment for the parks department, was set intentionally.
While firefighters extinguished the flames in the equipment shed, another fire was reported in a restroom about 100 yards away, authorities say. The small trash fire in the restroom was quickly extinguished, and there was no damage. Investigators say arson was also the cause of the restroom fire.
