A 2-year-old girl was seriously hurt Wednesday when she fell out of the bed of a pickup truck her father was driving and the vehicle backed into her, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Ariya Vue was taken by medical helicopter to Tampa General Hospital, where she was listed in serious condition late Wednesday night, highway patrol spokesman Lt. Paul France said.
This is what happened about 2:30 p.m., according to the highway patrol:
Bee Vue, 35, was pulling his 1993 Chevrolet truck into the driveway of his house on Old Bradenton Road in Wauchula. His daughter, Ariya, was riding in the bed and when the truck stopped, she got out and fell to the ground.
The truck reversed and the left rear tire rolled over Ariya's torso.
Two other passengers — one in the cab and the other in the bed of the truck with Ariya — were not hurt.
The incident is under investigation.
