TAMPA - If your alternative-country-uncensored-hip-hop channel disappeared today on your satellite radio, there's a simple explanation.
Satellite radio stations XM and Sirius have merged, and the stations pulled the trigger today on their new lineup of channels.
The stations have combined channels, giving customers broadcasts from XM and Sirius. The result is 170 channels for XM and 130 for Sirius.
The change shifted some channels and channel names have changed. Also, new channels were added.
When you turn on the radio for the first time after today, it may take up to five minutes for the radio to receive the update from satellites. The audio may not match the display while this is going on.
Changing channels during this process will delay the update.
The Web sites for XM and Sirius (www.xmradio.com and www.sirius.com) have complete information about the new lineups.
