A man who says he was the victim of a home invasion robbery is suing a Citrus Park apartment complex for not providing adequate security, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday in civil court.
Christopher Clabeaux is suing Paragon-Ott Apartments Ltd. and Camden at Citrus Park Apartments for unspecified damages of more than $15,000.
Clabeaux says he was renting an apartment at the complex at 8102 Sheldon Road on Aug. 29 when armed men forced their way inside at about 12:50 a.m. Clabeaux tried to lock himself in the bathroom but could not, the lawsuit states.
Deputies say Clabeaux suffered a serious injury when he was shot in the neck with a handgun. Another man in the apartment that night was hit in the mouth with a hammer, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
Ronald Godwin and Benjamin Bryant were arrested that night in connection to the home invasion, deputies say. They were each charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, home invasion robbery and kidnapping.
Godwin is being held without bail at Orient Road Jail, and Bryant is being held without bail at Falkenburg Road Jail.
