HELLBOY II: THE
GOLDEN ARMY ***
The reformed demon and unlikely chick magnet is back, this time trying to save the world from a prince and his army. Ron Perlman plays the bright red, cigar-chomping softie with a thing for Selma Blair's fiery fellow misfit in this creature feature from director Guillermo del Toro, who brought the same vivid imagination to "Pan's Labyrinth." PG-13, 110 minutes
STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS **
The animation looks more video game than cinematic, and the plot is apparently not much better in this precursor to the TV series, which takes place between the action of "Episode II: Attack of the Clones" and "Episode III: Revenge of the Sith." On the bright side, sulky Anakin is not voiced by uber pouter Hayden Christensen.
PG, 98 minutes
THIS CHRISTMAS
(not reviewed)
With Halloween over, it must be time for the comically dysfunctional families of another Hollywood Christmas. This one is about an affluent African-American family with the usual array of multigenerational issues, bandied about by a cast that includes Regina King, Delroy Lindo and pop star Chris Brown, who gets a familiar musical number. PG-13, 120 minutes
