TAMPA - Things certainly haven't been good since the University of South Florida got into the Big East part of its schedule. The Bulls are 6-3 overall, but their 1-3 conference mark have them tied for sixth place with Louisville.
And while the season has been exasperating thus far, senior SS Carlton Williams believes the team has plenty to play for.
"You have these goals and you have your mind-set on things that you want to accomplish and want to get done, so it's frustrating," he said about being eliminated from the Big East race. "But at the same time it could be a whole lot worse. So you got to take the positive and move forward.
"We still have a chance to be one of the best teams to ever come through USF and have a 10-win season. So we still have some goals at hand and some things to keep fighting for. I'm disappointed that we don't have a chance to win the Big East, but at the same time I'm just happy to be a part of this team."
To reach 10 wins, USF would have to win its final three regular-season games, beginning with Saturday's matchup against Rutgers (4-5, 3-2), and its bowl game.
CAPTAINS: RB Ben Williams, C Jake Griffin, LB Tyrone McKenzie and SS Carlton Williams are this week's captains.
