Fifth-grade students in Casey Turner's class at James Sanderlin Elementary School in St. Petersburg spent a couple of days working with Canadian environmental scientist Don Waite, who is known for singing songs about science as a teaching tool for adults and students.
With his help, the students built a pond in the classroom and studied aquatic plant and invertebrate life collected locally. The students will present what they have learned - including songs - to the student body during an assembly today.
